I guess I finally got listed in the search engines. I don't normally monitor this site anymore but now that I am getting hits, I will pay attention. My website is www.airplantcity.com and I have many plants available and some great info along with many other articles that I have written and not published here. Please visit and let me know how you found me.
I promise to be better about moderating and will pay more attention here than I have in the past. Thanks so much for visiting.

HI,
I AM IN THE FINAL STAGE OF BUILDING A VERY LARGE TERRARIUM WHICH IS A HABITAT FOR REPTILES.
-IT HAS A STONE BACKWALL (65" WIDE BY 33" HIGH)
-AND 2 STONES SIDEWALLS (30" WIDE BY 33" HIGH).
IT IS A DESERT HABITAT SO THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IS 85-90 DEGREES AND THE HUMIDITY IS VERY LOW (10-20%). THE HABITAT HAS A UVB LIGHT.
FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING AIR PLANTS SEEM TO BE THE PERFECT FIT WITH THIS TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT, SO I WOULD LIKE TO DECORATE ALL THREE WALLS WITH THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE FLOWERING AIR PLANTS WITH A NICE FRAGNANCE. AND I DO NOT WANT TO SPENT MORE THAN $100.
WHICH AIR PLANTS DO YOU RECOMMEND?
THANK
CHRIS
I think I killed my Tillandsia...
Here's a linkto my photos of my Tillie. I'm hoping she's saveable... it's really frustrating that I can't even raise a Tillandsia right :(
Any advice as to how I could save/ressurect this plant would be appreciated. Thanks!
Yuriko, looking at your picture, I see that you have a "Stricta" and I see that it is near death but not quite there yet.
Please do the following:
PLACE A CONTAINER OF WATER OUTSIDE FOR THE DAY,
SOAK YOUR PLANT IN THE WATER TOMORROW, UPSIDE DOWN FOR THE WHOLE DAY.
TAKE OUT AND SHAKE VERY GENTLY TO EXPEL THE WATER
PLACE IN BRIGHT LIGHT, AS CLOSE TO THE WINDOW AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT IT BEING ABLE TO GET A CHILL FROM THE PANE.
LEAVE IT ALONE THEN FOR A WEEK.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IT HAS A BLOOM WHICH WILL CREATE BABIES AND YOU JUST NEED TO KEEP MOM ALIVE UNTIL THE BABIES ARE OLD ENOUGH TO SEPERATE.
NO FERTILIZER, NO WATER STRAIGHT FROM THE TAP EITHER, LET IT SIT OUTSIDE (THE WATER I MEAN)
LET ME KNOW IN A WEEK HOW IT IS DOING.
Hi
I like the info you are sharing with everyone. I love air plants, but I live in Florida so they just grow naturally !
